Description:

This is the early point of a thought that I've had and I'd like your opinion on how valid it is from what you've seen.

thats a stretch. you can apply that kind of thing to anything. why do we have music. well rain was falling on something and made a sound.... we made a drum to sound like rain rain came.

ok, let's use our imagination for a bit...a bad storm rolls through. Lightning strikes a tree which falls on a sheep...the storm ends shortly after. Another storm, another animal dies before the storm ends. They decide the storm WANTS to kill an animal. Storm comes through no animals are dying...man goes out and kills a sheep himself and the storm moves away. Now they routinely kill an animal to keep the storms away...to appease the rain god.

ok. animal sacrifice. in what possible way does that start or become a pavalonian response.

religion is bred from tradition, look up ancient religions that you don't believe to be true and see the similarities of how the traditions became religious activities. I was clear to say "religious practices" not philosophy. Commandments, rules, etc...aren't in this. Animal sacrifice is though.

that explains tradition (weakly) but not religion. the ten commandments, golden rule, animal sacrifice, turning the other cheek, none of those are pavalonian responses. follwoing those makes things worse for you most likely. I can see what you mean about the literal figurative thing, but I think its more a human thing.

it starts simply...like the banana. the mother teaches the child. generations go by and finally someone asks why do we do this? and someone replies it makes the food better. How? God does it. part 3 you missed completely. Literal becomes figurative due to scientific advances. Interpretations change due to scientific advances. Being a good person comes from empathy.

1. ya but a whole thought process, also again it has to start somehow. the first time it starts the dog has to actually get food a couple of times. 2. again It has to start sometime with something good coming or it wouldn't start. 3. how does being a good person combat scientific advances?

1-this built up over thousands of years, being passed on from mother to child. 2-it's not "good" it's indoctrinated. 3-This is the evolution of religion combating scientific advances.
