bootleggersouth ::: Favorites 2007-09-05 00:09:19 Very Informative Vid! Thanks for posting it. I was enchanted to know that our Confederate heroes marched to bagpipes as can be witnessed at 1:36. __________________________________________________

Remise1 ::: Favorites 2007-10-19 19:03:45 Yes. It's amazing how many people don't realize how prevalent bagpipers were during the Civil War. But on a more serious note, I had pipers at my wedding, and I am deeply offended that this guy (or maybe there are more than one) keeps showing up. Even more horrifying, I marched in the National Memorial Day parade in D.C. last year, and the SUV had a FEDERAL piper with them. Next year I'm bringing earplugs. __________________________________________________
erikarabin8924 ::: Favorites 2007-10-19 19:15:21 whats wrong with bagpipes? __________________________________________________
Remise1 ::: Favorites 2007-10-19 20:43:26 Nothing's wrong with bagpipes. I love bagpipes. Now, if you had asked, "What's wrong with bagpipes in a parade honoring Civil War soldiers," I would have replied that there is no evidence whatsoever that bagpipes were ever played on a Civil War battlefield, in a Civil War camp, or during a parade. That being the case, to do so on Remembrance Day is as insulting to the memory of those who served and died as it would be if someone showed up in the parade wearing Star Wars garb. __________________________________________________
erikarabin8924 ::: Favorites 2007-10-19 20:56:23 its not that insulting, its not even close to being as insulting as someone showing up in a star wars costume. There was a regiment of highland imigrants that fought for Georgia in the Civil War and they were thought to have carried the pipes. __________________________________________________

erikarabin8924 ::: Favorites 2007-12-02 16:12:34 well there is a union section to this parade but i didn't bother with that. Its part of there Remembrance Day weekend activities. __________________________________________________
AlabamaSoldier ::: Favorites 2007-12-04 11:43:41 I'm sure. I mean, I knew there was a Union section. It is Gettysburg, Pennsylvania after all. What I didn't know was that they honored the Rebs too. __________________________________________________ |
