JChandler02 ::: Favorites 2007-12-05 22:15:33 Hard facts? Your hard facts in an old earth is nothing but sheer faith. You can not go into the past, therefore you merely interpret the evidence of an old earth. The problem is, I do the same thing, and the evidence you claim, I do likewise. Until you successfully time travel I wouldn't claim such hard facts. Your science, your math, and your logic is foolishness to the almighty God. Therefore, your flesh and lack of faith is blinding your path. __________________________________________________
ambassador1022 ::: Favorites 2007-12-05 22:02:53 "God is not deceiving us. Our flesh is." Our flesh is? What does our flesh have to do with the hard facts of science. You seem to be superimposing our fallen status onto objective truth as a whole. Really, your comment is simply a non-sequitor. __________________________________________________
ambassador1022 ::: Favorites 2007-12-05 22:02:12 "Try and stop looking at the world scientifically, and trust what the living Word says." I trust what the Word says, but I strongly believe that God has revealed himself through nature (Romans 1:20) and that when the Word and nature are properly understood, both point towards the same conclusion. Quite frankly JChandler, your dogmatic way of thinking frightens me. __________________________________________________
JChandler02 ::: Favorites 2007-12-05 17:05:39 "But as you said, God would be deceiving us and this goes against His nature." God is not deceiving us. Our flesh is. I can't help but to think of Romans Chapter 1:22, "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools" Try and stop looking at the world scientifically, and trust what the living Word says. Stop giving in to man. __________________________________________________
JesusismyShepherd ::: Favorites 2007-11-20 15:08:47 Some stuff is literal and some isn't, but you won't really know unless you go to the only One who does know. __________________________________________________
cda6590 ::: Favorites 2007-11-20 08:00:12 Funny thing though, God never says that the Bible should be taken as a literal account in the Bible. __________________________________________________
JesusismyShepherd ::: Favorites 2007-10-11 18:52:15 Our interpretation of the Bible should come from God, not our own thoughts or from man. __________________________________________________
lewisfisher ::: Favorites 2007-10-11 08:40:49 "But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day." -2 Peter 3:8 __________________________________________________
Muaguana ::: Favorites 2007-07-24 13:59:33 Genesis 1:5 "And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day." Case closed. Six 24-hour days. __________________________________________________
Ultrasecond ::: Favorites 2007-07-08 00:49:33 It's not a fallacy to mention the fact that the bible's "authority" as a factual document is dubious at best. __________________________________________________
GBot77 ::: Favorites 2007-06-10 22:14:26 Ouch, sorry then. I will review my logic and pray for us both. __________________________________________________
ambassador1022 ::: Favorites 2007-06-10 21:45:50 Gbot77... I appreciate your rebuttal but your logic is terrible. It makes God seem weak? By your logic, shouldn't he have done it instantly? A week makes him seem weak too by your logic. Oh yeah, and asserting "Genesis is talking about a week's time" is called proof substitute and is a logical fallacy. Look it up. __________________________________________________
GBot77 ::: Favorites 2007-06-10 14:55:44 Buddy, Genesis is talking about a week's time. Yom means day. If it took longer than a week it makes God seem weak does it not? Genesis talks about literal days. Ambassador, you reasoning is backwards, you said that he couldn't use yom because it was elsewhere in the Bible but thats exactly what you were talking about just before trying to attack his argument. __________________________________________________
ambassador1022 ::: Favorites 2007-06-09 23:40:39 What a wonderful example of the "Poisoning the well" fallacy. "This sort of "reasoning" involves trying to discredit what a person might later claim by presenting unfavorable information about the person." __________________________________________________
lerxst74 ::: Favorites 2007-06-09 15:13:32 Well if nothing else it might be fun to have to think out all these excuses to adjust a 2000+ years old book, written by shepherds who knew less about how the world works than any contemporary 10 year old kid, in a modern context. __________________________________________________ |
