Description:
The story of a beautiful mermaid who gave up a kingdom for her beloved prince. Forget the happy sappy Disney version. This is the real version. |

AuraRune ::: Favorites When i was little I got a version that was similar to this movie. I am glad that i have gotten to finally see the version where she turns into foam. But I would have done the same as Marina. I could never stab the one i truly love and care for. I would rather die myself... Although i do think that if she would have given him that scale earlier until waiting for him to see it at teh end her would have realized who she was. 07-08-22 04:00:26 _____________________________________________________
RightxHerexWaiting ::: Favorites I hope the prince is freakin happy! He got the wrong girl && the real one who saved him died because she cherished his life more than her's! I hope that whore of a princess of Moyshu or wherever the heck she's from can't have children or chokes or something! That's just wrong! I love this movie so much it made me cry, && not very many movies have the pleasure of saying they did that. 07-08-21 23:30:42 _____________________________________________________
benjovi356 ::: Favorites Marina shows the true love and caring of a woman in this movie. In the Disney film, Ariel is a spoiled princess brat who gets infatuated with the prince and her father pays for it as well, until the end, where everything is happy. I could never stand the Disney version. 07-08-20 20:52:38 _____________________________________________________
LunaCavity ::: Favorites No offence but I hate this version and I found it utterly depressing. I don't see what's sappy about the disney, I find it more exciting and entertaining, plus it has a way better villan, I like Ariel and think she has some nice personallity and I can thoughly understand why she and acts like she does unlike this film's mermaid. PS only watched this to see what it would be like and to get a good comparason of the two films. 07-08-21 05:38:34 _____________________________________________________
Sitauset ::: Favorites I never really thought of this movie's witch as a villain. She wasn't trying to take over the world like Disney's witch did. She was just a manta ray-maid w/ lots of power and wasn't afraid to use it. But she never seemed truly villainous. In a way I always found her good. I also don't think you can really compare these movies to each other. They're both based on the same stories but they're both MILES apart towards being different movies entirely. 07-08-21 06:47:11 _____________________________________________________
benjovi356 ::: Favorites I agree about the Sea Witch. In this movie she's just dark and mysterious like most fictional mages/wizards and she never wished any harm on the royal family. I also see how these two are similar...I just think this one shows more of a genuine character in the people of the story. The Disney one feels too much like a scripted re-write to make people feel good. That's all I meant from before. 07-08-21 10:59:57 _____________________________________________________
obsessedmimiko ::: Favorites thanks for posting the entire movie. like many others who had posted i saw this as a child also and loved it. very bittersweet. 07-08-19 00:44:30 _____________________________________________________
Sitauset ::: Favorites I watched this so much as a kid my VCR ate the tape! 07-08-17 06:58:12 _____________________________________________________
Sitauset ::: Favorites (DARN YOUTUBE NOT LETTING ME POST MY COMMENT RIGHT) I was 5 when I got it and I was never traumatized by it. I liked "the other version" before this one but this one is the one that stayed with me and means the most to me and became my favorite at 5 years old. I love it. 07-08-17 06:59:33 _____________________________________________________
Sitauset ::: Favorites If I was Marina I don't think I could have stabbed him either. My love for him would not let me live with myself if I did. I think this movie inspired my views on love and sacrifice now that I am grown. (I'm 24) 07-08-17 07:01:07 _____________________________________________________
Fluffangelwings725 ::: Favorites My parents got me this movie along with "Scamper the Penguin"? xD I like this movie, too. It's my favorite and it brings back so many memories. I think this movie might have made me like anime more. =3 07-08-19 00:43:21 _____________________________________________________
Fluffangelwings725 ::: Favorites More from the very beginning when I first discovered it, I mean. XD 07-08-19 00:56:29 _____________________________________________________
Sitauset ::: Favorites I know what you mean. XD When I got into anime at 13 (I'm 24 on 9/6/07) I was so surprised how many animes I'd seen before. Hehe. I'm glad this movie was one of my first animes. :3333 07-08-21 06:50:08 _____________________________________________________
Fluffangelwings725 ::: Favorites I've always thought that Tenchi Muyo was my first anime, but it was always The Little Mermaid. u.u; 07-08-22 21:53:01 _____________________________________________________
Sitauset ::: Favorites LOL, ME TOO! XD Tenchi was the first anime I watched that I *knew* was anime so I do still consider it one of my firsts. Tenchi is one of the best. <3 07-08-23 14:23:48 _____________________________________________________

Mainacoal ::: Favorites Who wants to leave heaven? That's not very smart. The real story is so sad, disney killed it. I still like theirs too though. 07-08-13 23:19:39 _____________________________________________________
BeautifulButDorky ::: Favorites I remember watching this scene as a kid-- the only portion I clearly remembered before rewatching it just now-- and feeling absolutely heartbroken when Marina looks at the other princess sleeping next to the man she loves. The sense of finality in it, even to a child, is immense. Such a sad and beautiful story... 07-08-13 04:53:04 _____________________________________________________
